Varna

VARNA: Placement of moon in the horoscope determines his/her varna. Varnas are the four castes in which each individual is categorized. It is purely on the basis of ego and its depending upon Moon occupying different signs in the chart and according to  astrology books as under:-

i) Moon in Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces i.e.in watery sign: Brahmin.                             ii) Moon in Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn i.e.in earthy sign: Vaishya.                             iii ) Moon in Gemini, Libra or Aquarius i.e, in airy sign: Sudra.                                   iv ) Moon in Aries, Leo or Sagittarius i.e. in fiery sign: Kshatriya.

Varnas are also classified on the basis of  Nakshatra occupied by Moon at birth, as under :-

i) Brahmins: Aswani- to-Aridara and Purva Bhadra.                                                   ii) Kshatriyas: Punarvasu to Uttra Phaguni and U.Bhadra.                                         iii) Vaishyas: Hasta to Jayastha and Revati.                                                               iv) Sudras: Mool to Satbhisag.                                                                                                  Some examples in which varna are classified on the basis of division of signs as fiery, earthy, air and watery is as under:-

Example 1:

Wife D.O.B.   16-10-1987  T.O.B. 8-35 A.M. P.O.B.  SHIMLA(H.P.)

          .                         HUSBAND D.O.B.24-4-1982   T.O.B. 6-20 P.M. P.O.B. CHANDIGARH
A girl belonging to higer cadre of spiritual development, should not be matched with boy from lower cadre. But on the other hand a boy from  higher cadre can marry a girl belonging to lower cadre or Varna. Both belonging to same cadre are best matched and get full -1 mark.
Going by Nakshetra based division, the boy having Ashwini nakshetra is Kshetriya and girl is having Mrigasire,
Boy's Moon in Aries a fiery sign-Kshetriya and  that of girl in cancer in Watery sign- Brahmin cadre should not have married the boy.- so score is zero. This is how different methods can create problem.
Exception: If varna of boy is in low cadre (Varna) from that of girl, still the matching of varna can be there if its Rashipati (lord of sign occupied by Moon) of boy is of higher cadre than that of girl.
Cadres of planets are as follows:
1. Sun
2. Moon
3. Mercury
4. Venus
5. Mars
6. Jupiter
7. Saturn
8. Rahu
9. Ketu

In the above example, varna of girl is of higher cadre than boy. It is also not getting cancelled because girl's rashipati is Moon while boy;s rashipati is Mars. Moon is of higher cadre as compared to that of the boy as moon is considered the queen while Mars, the warrior. Hence, the matching of above two partners on the basis of varna is not good and they get '0' mark.

Example 2:
              Wife D.O.B. 4-3-1951 T.O.B. 17-55  P.O.B. Mohindergarh (Haryana).

                    Husband D.O.B. 18-9-1951 T.O.B. 8-30 A.M.  P.O.B. Kaithal (Haryana)

In this horoscope boy's Moon is in Aries which is a fiery sign; so the boy is a Kshetriya and that of girl is in Gemini; so she is Sudra. Boy being of higher cadre than girl; matching of their varna yields full '1' mark and hence the matching of this horoscope on the basis of varna is O.K. But on the hand a boy from higher cadre marry a girl belonging to lower cadre or varna as chart is o.k.

Example 3:
Husband: DOB: 17-12-1976, TOB: 16:00:00 PM, POB: Jalandhar (Punjab)

Wife: DOB: 21-05-1978, POB: Kaithal (Haryana), TOB: 23:40 PM.
In the above horoscopes, boy as well as the girl are of shudra varna. Hence the matching is ok and varna matching gets mark, '1'.

Example 4:
Husband: DOB: 13-08-1983, TOB: 03:30:35 A.M. POB: Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand)

Wife: DOB: 26-08-1983, TOB: 06:20 A.M., POB: Kangra (H.P.)

In this example, varna of boy is vaishya, while that of girl is brahmin. The matching is therefore not good. But, in this example, it is cancelled because rashipati of boy, Mercury is of higher cadre as compared to that of girl's, i.e., Jupiter. Hence, the matching is good and varna matching gets '1' mark.
